4. Promoting a Positive School Climate – the Fish Philosophy
Lessons learned from Seattle's Pike Place Fish Market. Story and video about the team of fishmongers who inspired the Fish Philosophy when they transformed their routine jobs into an exciting and inspirational culture. Hear how the Capital Area Technical Center staff has adopted the Fish Philosophy (have more fun–own the process–choose your attitude–and make someone's day).

5. Hands-on SIS (Student Information System) Overview
Primarily intended for those who like to push buttons and who know nothing or next-to-nothing about SIS and would like a general idea of how to use SIS to report on tech program competencies, aligned MLR, and record/report student performance based on assessment outcomes.

6. Computer Assisted Engineering Demonstration
Integrating CAD, CAM, Hydraulics, Pneumatics and Robotics in an integrated manufacturing model. Demonstrations will include the Pro-lite 1000 desktop mill, evolving 3D printing technology for rapid prototyping and Lab-Volt equipment to simulate hands-off material processing.

7. Safety Liaison Meeting
Discussion of new technology relating to the 10-hour OSHA course; Safety Assessments; Enforcement Officer from Bureau of Labor Standards to discuss enforcement issues in schools; Plan for full-day Safety Liaisons Tech Update.

8. SIS Security Issues for Network Administrators
An introduction to the Microsoft Access security wizard, including an overview on what features the Access security capability provides; working with users and groups; and designing a workable security protocol or methodology. Also, a look at the beta version 10.0 of SIS.

9. How to RECRUIT and RETAIN 51% of Your Target Population
In this session, participants will be exposed to a variety of recruitment and retention methods for young women in the non-traditional trades and technology areas. Several multimedia approaches will show best-practices from other institutions. The discussion will include success from around Maine, so bring some examples to share.

10. Career Preparation and Career Portfolios
An update on where Career Prep stands in the implementation timeline of Maine Learning Results. Also, a look at the Career Portfolio task and rubric developed by the Co-op teachers this summer. As almost all CTE programs do some kind of portfolio, this could be useful to anyone.

11. Guidelines for Local Assessment Systems and CTE assessment development
An overview of the state's new guidelines on local assessment systems and a report on the progress and availability of Maine CTE-developed assessments.

12. What the Curriculum Resource Center of Maine (CRCOM) Can Do for You
An overview of the CRCOM, including resources available for loan, policies, procedures, and CRCOM Web site navigation. Internet resources for a variety of topics such as career exploration, assessment, curriculum development, and innovative program research will also be included.

13. From Ozzie & Harriett to Ozzy Osbourne...Then and Now
A discussion of some of the challenges of career and technical education and a look at Best Practices used by today's vocational/technical teachers. This sometimes humorous conversation will look at issues facing schools today and suggest ways to overcome them. All vocational/technical educators are welcome.

Student Information System (SIS) Workgroup - Administrative Menu
The session is intended for those who either are – or may become – in some way responsible for managing student information in SIS at a center/region. The workgroup will be identifying fields for data that should be in SIS for center/region reporting needs/requirements and suggested enhancements to current SIS features such as the attendance module.

Open Forum for Student Services Coordinators
An overview of the Discipline Referral Module that is being used by CATC as well as an opportunity to discuss common issues and informally share best practices.

Plato Learning System Demo
A hands-on demonstration of the Plato Learning System. Topics to be covered include meeting student needs for credit recovery, academic remediation, literacy support, and Limited English Proficiency. Participants will engage in hands-on activities, sampling all features of the program.
